Troubleshooting
Solutions for common issues and console messages you may see when running the setup.
Startup
The server does not start: UnsupportedClassVersionError
If the console says the server jar has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 69.0), your server is running on an old Java version. Paper 26.2 requires Java 25.
Install Java 25, then make sure LAUNCH.bat or your hosting panel uses it. You can check the version with java -version.
Some plugins don't load on the first start
On the first start, the plugins download the libraries they need, so some of them may not load in time. Wait for the server to fully load, then restart it once.
Resource Pack
Players are kicked when joining
The setup requires the resource pack. Players are kicked if they decline it, or if it fails to download.
- The player declined the pack: in Minecraft, go to Multiplayer, select the server, click Edit and set Server Resource Packs to Enabled.
- The pack failed to download (ItemsAdder): set your public server address in ItemsAdder. See Resource Pack Hosting.
If you want to make the pack optional, change these options. Players without the pack will see broken menus and items.

Custom heads in menus look like normal player heads
- Make sure the player accepted the resource pack. Reconnect if needed.
- Nexo: check that
external_packsistrueunderPack→importinplugins/Nexo/settings.yml, and thatplugins/Nexo/pack/external_packs/CustomHeads/pack.mcmetaexists. The folder must not be nested (for exampleCustomHeads/CustomHeads/pack.mcmeta). - Rebuild the pack after any change:
/iazipfor ItemsAdder or/nexo reload packfor Nexo.
The HUD shows white squares or missing icons
The BetterHud config does not match the plugin you use, or the pack was not rebuilt after the last change. Follow BetterHud Setup again.
Menus
Blacksmith items don't show or can't be crafted
The DeluxeMenus jar was probably replaced with the official release. Put back the DeluxeMenus jar from the setup package and restart the server. See Do not update DeluxeMenus.
The player has enough XP but still can't craft
The XP requirement in the Blacksmith recipes uses experience points, not levels. For example, a recipe that needs 10,000 XP needs 10,000 experience points, which is about level 63.
Console Messages
These messages are expected and can be ignored unless noted otherwise.
